What a week!!! It's been a pretty intense roller coaster ride this week. The first few days this week were awesome! We started some really awesome lessons with some really awesome people.
Unfortunately we havent seen Bobby Taylor at all since we contacted him. (Homeless people are really hard to stay in touch with) I hope we run into him again. Hes a sweet guy with a good heart.
There is a man who is named Clyde (49 y/o black man) that we have been meeting with though. We contacted him the same night we contacted Bobby. He was walking home with a beer in his hand and tears in his eyes when we found him. he explained some of the problems he had been having lately and we shared a quick testimony of Christs love and plan for us right there on the side of the road. He expressed some hope and faith that he could change. I asked him if he'd make a change that night and he said yes very firmly. I asked him If I could take his beer for him he handed it over immediately and said that he needed to quit. I dumped it out and stuff and told him that God would bless him for his expressions of faith. It was very powerful. First time I've held a beer I think. he walked a way from us that night with a pass along card and hope in his eyes and optimism on his face. it was AWESOME! We got a name and address and met with him later that week and shared the restoration lesson and left him with a book of mormon. Same basic thing happened We met with him and he was crying and depressed. We asked him if he would read the book of mormon after our lesson and he said that he would firmly. We've met with him a few more times since then and every time he is a little bit different. It is such a blessing to be able to watch this mans world change right before our eyes. He's kept every commitment we have given him and keeps his optimism and hopes high. I have very high expectations for clyde. i love him so much.

So that was how our week started. Then Elder Castro had to go and get SICK! the bum. (Im just kidding, Elder Castro is actually really cool and we've gotten pretty close the past 2.5 weeks.) but we basically just stayed at home and watched a bunch of really dorky church movies from the 90's for like a day and a half. it wasnt overly boring. I went through the area book like twice. and then deep cleaned the whole apartment. and THEN it got boring. lol We had an alright time though. The zone leaders serving in Pineville that we live with had borrowed some props from the sisters for a skit they were going to be doing in our zone training meeting the next day so we played around with those and got a few good laughs out of it. But really we mostly spent our time watching Church videos and studying. It was pretty boring.
This week I had a GREENIE dinner. lol one of the memebers of our ward heard that I was brand new. (something that i have been trying to keep a secret) and invited us over for dinner. When they presented the meal to us EVERYTHING was dyed green. it looked really odd at first. but then I figured it out and busted up laughing. it was a pretty great meal. It made me feel pretty special. lol I have some pictures of it that I will be sending along.
I got your valentines package and EVERYBODY'S mail all on friday the 13th this week. (for those of you who dont know I have CONSISTENTLY had the BEST luck on friday the 13th) It was the highlight of the week being able to read everyones letters and stuff. and enjoying the valentines packages that you all sent. I really appreciated all of it. it was very awesome. I appreciated it so much. It made me so happy. It was a great day. :)
saturday this week there was a homicide in our area. and we actually biked right by it without really noticing it. The next day we contacted our investigator Misty and she told us that it was her "brother and sister" who were killed and she wasnt feeling up to seeing visitors that day. It utterly broke our hearts when we heard that. So we took some of the cookies that you guys sent to us for our valentines package and wrote a note and went right to her house to offer our condolences. I hope you were all ok with that. lol but I think that she really needed them more than we did. It meant a lot to her.

This week was my first baptism in the field as well!!! The 3 boys Rohan, Zechariah, and J.J. were all baptized this last sunday. I have only been able to teach them 2 lessons with Elder Castro so far but they are some awesome kids. It was such an awesome experience to see them be baptized. There were about 30 people from the ward who showed up to offer there support too. It was WAYY more than we were expecting and really made us happy. the ward is fellowshipping them well. Rohan asked me to confirm him in sacrament meeting and I got to do that. It was my first time but I felt it went really well. It was a wonderful opportunity to do that and I felt humbled that he asked me to give him the blessing. It was a really wonderful experience.
Thats about all I have for this week. I hope I didnt forget anything but I probably did. i really appreciate each and every one of you. Thank you all for the prayers, and letters. They mean a lot.
You're all awesome.
Stay righteous! keep up with reading and praying every night!
