Our Christmas was wonderful! Calling home to the family was nice. We had a nice little chat and it was really fun to see all of their faces even though they couldn't see mine.
We were able to spend Christmas with some members and investigators who did not have anyone to spend Christmas with this holiday season. It made the day very special and happy.
We had an amazing lesson with James this week! We pulled up on our bikes and could tell that he had been drinking a bit. There was beer everywhere. The people that he was with were not the best influences on him. When we got there someone was playing very loud music out of their car and they were all yelling and shouting and being kinda crazy. Satan was practically sitting there on the porch with them. When James saw us he got excited and introduced us to everyone though. We asked if we could all sit down and have a lesson together, then we asked if they would turn off the music so we could hear and pay attention to the spirit better. The man who owned the car was very reluctant and was not afraid to express that, but he did it anyway. We said thank you and then started reading from the Book of Mormon. As we did, the feeling of the people there changed. James got quieter and became much more perceptive to the words we were speaking and definitely more receptive to the spirit. He felt that we were inspired to come and visit him right in that moment. We explained that everything that we do is inspired of God. We told him how we pray and with the spirit plan out who we're going to visit each day and at what time, and what we will talk to them about, he gained a testimony, I think, that we were men who were inspired messengers from God. We then talked about how we had been thinking and praying about him specifically and we explained that the Lord had prompted us to ask him to be baptized. We extended the invitation. He got very serious and solemn and said that he believed that he needed to have that happen to him. The spirit was powerful. We left and the whole atmosphere that we had come up on when we first rolled up was completely different. It was very special. I look forward to when James will be able to be Baptized.
Anna was out of town this week.
We called home from the Sahars house. Their whole family was in town and we got to meet a lot of them. None of them were members except Brother Sahar but we got to talk a bit about how missionary's get called and assigned to a mission and how inspired the process is. It was very brief. Then they made us some delicious Boudin which is something that is very local to Louisiana and Extremely delicious.
The Becnels came back to see me again Christmas Eve! They took us to a really good bakery shop on Magazine street for Breakfast. We got to take pictures and catch up a bit. They also gave us an enormous gift basket with a lot of their delicious baked goodies. That made me really really happy. Sophie Got chocolate all over her face. and her little sister Amalie can walk now and that really weirds me out. It's always so good to see them. :)
Other news:
I have a camera now so I will be able to send pictures in my emails now. Woohoo!!
I loved all the presents and packages that were sent to me! I felt very loved this year! I really wish I could send out individual thank you letters to each of you! I will try. But I thank each of you who sent me something.
We had a snowball fight with a Recent Convert in our ward who was spending Christmas alone. It was really fun. (my family sent the unmeltable snowballs)
I am beginning to think that the sproutlings that started growing in my potted tree are weeds. I might be pulling them out soon.
I'll send pictures!
First: Me and Jarret We had a snowball fight with him. He's a really awesome, very funny guy He was baptized the last transfer I was here.
2 and 3: We call cars like these HOOPTIES because they have such obnoxiously huge rims. Some of them look really ridiculous. They're usually big rims that raise the whole car up on a very cheap 90'smobile with a custom paintjob. This one had my name on it. So we took a picture with it.
