Thanksgiving was a great success. We had about 30-35 people show up.
Me and elder Latham learned the joys of Fried turkey. and we have lots of left overs actually. Bout to get me sum of that in a bit. Feelin kinda hungry right now actually.
The Desormeaux's were out of town this week but I have a new story to tell.
We have been meeting with a man named Jordan for a little while. He's been familiar with the church and missionaries for a few years now. One Day he just showed up at church. Me and Elder Latham taught Gospel Doctrine that day and that class was probably one of the most spiritually powerful meetings I think I've ever been able to lead in the church. It was strong. We didnt have an opportunity to say hi to Jordan that day. I just assumed he was a member!
He came the next week too though. And the next week. And the next week. And the next week. He's been coming regularly for over a month now!
A close friend of his in the ward went out with us teaching one day and suddenly pulled over and felt inspired to text Jordan. He asked if he would like to start meeting with the missionaries again and invited him over to be taught in his house.
Our first Lesson with Jordan went ok. He was still getting used to us a bit. We invited him to pray about whether God wanted him to be Baptized. He said if he got an answer that he would. A few lessons later we gave him an invitation to study Baptism on his own. and to think about a Day that God would have him to be baptized. He came back to us. and with tears in his eyes described a POWERFUL experience he had while reading D&C 20: 37. He said that as he read it a voice audibly said to him "January 28" He knew that was the day he should be baptized. We were so thrilled.
We explained the route our lessons would take now that he was sure he should be baptized. The spirit of God was with us in the room. and Jordan Glowed with the love of God. He was so happy.
Jordan is making choices. He's changing his life. It is thrilling to watch. 2 months ago. Me and Elder Latham had NOTHING going on in this area. But we worked hard and searched dilligently. We now have 3 people to be baptized in the coming weeks and months and many more people who are still preparing. The Branch is growing in strength and numbers every day.
It has been a while since I've felt this lost in the work. New Iberia is becoming home to me.
I love being a missionary.

Im also including the LIGHT THE WORLD Challenge the church has produced this year for Christmas. I'll invite all of you to take part in it and make this Christmas special by keeping Christ as the center piece of it. I'll be doing these things myself. Beginning on DEC 1st. We'll be involved with a Methodist church in feeding the less fortunate. Make this Christmas Special!!!
