Hey Everyone,
Sorry it's been such a long time Since all of you have heard from me. I havent been doing very well at the weekly email thing. i dont have any pictures this week unfortunately. My camera is still out of commission.
We had a really Awesome Thanksgiving. We had FOUR dinner appointments this week. FOUR OF THEM. THANKSGIVING Dinners. I was full after the first one! i have no idea how we made it! We had stopped by a few of our investigators houses that day and a Haitian family that we teach invited us back for dinner that night so she Ended up being our 4th. We showed up and we were already SO full. But she brought us over to the table in her little house and said "have as much as you want!" and we didnt really want much so we took a little pile from each dish, and then we were going to go sit down and try to eat it and she saw our plates and she was like "that's all you want?" and then she pulled us into her tiny little kitchen and gave us both 4.5 HEAPING scoops of Black rice. We had planned share a little lesson with her but when she sat us down she gave us this look and after she walked off I said to Elder Crouch; "Elder I think were going to have to eat all of this! I think she's going to be offended if we dont eat all of it." so we talked with her and her husband a little bit and then they got up and started milling around the room entertaining the rest of their guests. Poor Elder Crouch Tried his hardest to eat everything he could but he burned out after like 1/3rd of his plate. I Dont know how I did it but I managed to eat just about EVERY BITE off of my plate. At the end of it I turned to Elder Crouch and I said. "we need to leave right now. Like RIGHT now. I am about to throw up." and I really almost did too! It hurt to move! It was crazy I really don't think I've ever eaten that much in my whole life!
Elder Crouch had to drive home REAL slow that night.
We are having a great time in Uptown. Our focus has shifted a lot more towards finding people. I have come to actually really love tracting! I feel like I'm getting better at it. I feel like a missionary when I'm out and about talking to people. It's fun connecting with people and having heart to hearts with them about God. We had a great lesson with one of our progressing Investigators Karman this week. She is a chinese lady who moved here when she was about 18. while she was here in the americas She crossed paths with her long lost sister and has decided to stay! She has a really cool story. Her Boyfriend is a member in Texas and that is pretty much how we came across her. She has such a pure and innocent desire to learn. I love teaching her. She wants to learn everything. She is always asking US what it is that she can read or study or do next to help herself learn more. I love being a missionary. I'm perfectly happy doing what I do everyday. I really do know that if we can make everything about our life being a service to OTHERS the same as Christ was to us that it is INEVITABLE. We will be happy. We will love more deeply. We will have so much more peace.
I would do this for the rest of my life if I had Eternity. ;)
I love each and every one of you. i pray for each of you frequently and by name. I hope all is well.
Happy thanksgiving to everyone! I am thankful to be a missionary in New Orleans. In Louisiana. Right now. Teaching the people that I'm teaching and doing the things that I am doing. I am grateful to be able to study the scriptures and feel a closeness to the spirit as I do so. i am thankful for the sacrament. Im thankful for my patriarchal blessing. I'm also thankful for Quinoa which I have discovered recently which is very healthy, very cheap, and very easy to make.
Im also thankful for each of you!! :)
Hopefully You will hear from me next week! thank you for your emails and love!
