Mardi Gras Season has started and It is no joke people. Im going to send more pictures as they come but this place is going absolutely crazy. Whenever there is a parade it takes us about an hour to find our way around it. Its a mess out here. Im sending a picture of a parade we came across as we were coming back from an exchange with one of our District Leaders up in a more northern area. It was dark and people were going absolutely nuts!
Elder Rasband came to our mission this week and spoke to us. I had the honor to be able to shake his hand! He asked me where I was from and I told him; "I am from Minnesota" and that was it. When He addressed us he told us that he was not sure what he was going to speak about. He wasn't in Louisiana on an Assignment he came because he felt the spirit guide him there. So that was really cool. The whole meeting was very inspired and I don't think I will ever forget it.
He spoke to us about the Divinity of our Calling as missionaries he told us that where we were and who we were with was a direct assignment from the Lord. He said "Never whine or complain about your area or companion. You are mocking the Lord when you do that." That changed me when he said that. The spirit was powerful. Everything about this work is directed by God. I suppose it should be respected and treated as such an honor to be so involved in HIS work. To work side by side with the savior of the world. That was the majority of what I felt as he spoke to us in that regard.
He also talked about names and the value and meaning of a name. Whenever he called on someone he asked them what there name was and then asked do you know why that name is special? and then Said "because it is YOUR name" He talked about how we had each been given a New Name when we went through the temple. He told us to get the name of every person we talk to. Pray for NAMES. ask for NAMES. Record names in the missionary records that we keep. If we want more people to teach we need to seek out more NAMES.
he talked about the Power of Jesus Christs name. And how it is by his NAME that we are saved. He explained that the mere NAME of Jesus Christ had power. Thus we should use his and Gods name with reverence.
He said many other things to us too. It was a very powerful meeting and definitely the highlight of this week.
I love all of you too! I am grateful to be doing what Im doing.
