It is a nice 75 or so degrees down here in New Orleans this week. I am wearing a long sleeve shirt today. For shame. Im barely a real Minnesotan anymore.
We had a really good week!
Karman has stopped meeting with us for now. But that is just for now. Were doing our best to stay in contact with her and keep her close. I feel she will come around again one day and open back up to us. She's having a rough time and has closed up. We're trying to reach out to her and help her as much as we can though.
We met with Anna again this week! She is so sincere and desperate to learn as much as she can! She accidentally stumbled across some Anti Mormon literature online and met us with a bit of concern. We talked about the spirit and how it testifies of truth and then asked her to pay attention to how she felt as she read and studied these things because that is how she will know. We directed her to Mormon.org if she wanted to do anymore online research. After just a few moments she felt everything had been completely resolved and she wanted to learn more. Not only that but she wanted her NEIGHBORS to learn it as well! She's been sharing the things she has been learning with her sister who lives on her same street as well as her coworkers. She's asked us to go visit some other of her neighbors and then asked if it would be ok if she could invite some of them over for when we come back for our next lesson. so we said, YES!!
SHE's Already doing missionary work!! It's so exciting! Anna is going to be a great ward builder. :)
There is a family called the Sahars that we have been visiting. The mother in the home is not a member. She is Agnostic but very loving and accepting of everything. She's really very sweet. We've been working with her slowly. During our second visit with them as we left I was thinking about them and the spirit spoke to my heart and I said to myself, "I will do whatever it takes, whatever I can, to help unite this family in the gospel." I am filled with so much concern and love for them when I think about them. They are such a special family. I have not felt so strongly about an individual or a family since I've been on my mission. The people in this family are people that I truly want to devote everything that I have to helping. I've never prayed so sincerely or studied more intently or thought more seriously about an investigator before. They're awesome people! :) We were able to share the Christmas initiative with them and Sister Sahar felt comfortable enough with us afterwards to share some of her beliefs and open up to us. She said that she would be open to learning more about our church but just out of curiosity. We'll take that. THEN she ended up coming to church on Sunday this week with her husband. They sat in front of us and as we were taking the Sacrament I was looking at them sitting next to eachother and the spirit touched me again and I could almost feel the joy that they would be able to take part in as a family if they were able to be united together as a family in the gospel. It looked right to see them their together. It felt good. I want to help them have that forever.
Other news:
I have my license and am driving now. We've almost died a few times. It's been about 11 months since I drove a car.
I saw a homeless man with a sign the other day that said "Spaceship crashed, need parts to get home."
We helped a lady build a garden this week.
I have been watering a little potted tree in our apartment that was dying when I got here and it's coming back to life!! also, a couple little sproutlings have poked through the dirt too. So I think my tree may have had babies!
Im happy and well. I love this Gospel and I love being a Mormon.
