New Orleans is going absolutely nuts. I'll talk about that in a second.
First, I want to wish my father and little brother Ryan a happy birthday!! I love them a whole lot and miss them too. Missions also teach how to love and appreciate your own family. and Golly how I love and appreciate mine.
We have had an even slower week this week! Yesterday me and Elder Romero got into our Nissan Frontier and drove less than 12 miles. Because of all the parades and crazy people out in the streets it took about 4 hours to drive that far. We ended up rerouting and just coming right back home. We called our President to talk to him about how to handle our area and all the immorality going around and he pretty much just told us to stay inside until Tuesday is over. Fat Tuesday is supposed to be the blowout. We got permission to go to some of the famous parades with members in the morning though. So it should make for an interesting week. Mardi Gras almost seems to be a bigger deal than Christmas down here! People get ready and prepare WEEKS in advance and they even put up Christmas lights colored green purple and yellow. I will include pictures of the mayhem and more will come next week too.
Our area has truly come to a crawl. Part of me feels as though we aren't working hard enough and I wonder if maybe that is just because we cant really do much this time of year. It's really hard for me to blame the success of an area on the area itself. Anything can be done with faith. I have seen miracles and I know we can do anything through Jesus Christ who strengthens us. Regardless, I plan on turning things around this week though. Im kinda tired of this. not going to lie. haha
We had a lesson with the Sahars this week! We taught Megwen the Plan of Savlation. She had one request though. That we do it with a board game. So we got together a few props and tired to make a game out of it. Honestly it was way more lesson focused than it was game focused which is probably good I think. I don't know how much she learned from it and she definitely admitted that she still wasn't ready to take any steps of faith. She has applied to work as a professor of language at BYU though and she is learning a lot about God through just that exposure. I feel very certain that She will find her way soon. God has a plan for each of us. I love and pray so sincerely for that family.
We had a really random miracle this week and acquired a Roomba from Heaven. An Elder that I have gotten really close to during my stay in the NOLA apartment walked out onto our balcony one morning and just found an IRobot Roomba sitting on our balcony! We have no idea how it got there but we have been using it to clean our house this week! We love it! We went around asking our neighbors if it belonged to them but so far nobody says it's there's. We are pretty sure it fell from heaven. Having a Roomba is like having a pet that cleans your house for you.
