So I have officially left New Orleans. I have missed it a lot. I felt like apart of the ward there. Before I left I was able to visit with a lot of investigators and members that I had worked with for so long and bear my testimony to them before parting. Those were some of the most heartfelt and powerful testimonies I've borne in a long time. the Spirit was Powerful. I miss it so much. BUt truly, I don't have any time at all to sit down and think about that.
I feel like the Lord has kinda humbled me a little bit this transfer. He brought Me right out to the middle of nowhere!! haha. Amite is a tiny little town which has 1 Walmart (regular sized) Which apparently is a big deal if you want to gauge the size of a town. You can drive across the whole thing at about 35 Mph in about 5 minutes. It is TINY. WAAAYYY Different from the Areas I have served in thus far.
Nonetheless, I am learning to love it. This kind of place has a different kind of flavor to it.
Saturday we met a really nice lady on the side of the 'road' and we talked to her for a bit and she ended up cooking us the best hamburgers I ever done ate. We'll be going back this week to see her and teach her some more.
I met everyone in the ward already. They all have a lot of problems and are experiencing a lot of health iussues. The Less active members here have way different problems than the Less actives Ive had in other areas. Some of them have to commute like 20 miles in order to get to church and do not have a car now. This place needs some strength. The branch Presidency is on fire now though and I hope that we can be a source of help to them in their work with these people.
I'll try to include some pictures.
1 Me and my good Friend Elder hardick. An Elder That I've gotten particularly close to out here.
2the Sahar family. I love that family so much and worked with them for most of my time in New Orleans
3 a random church we found in amite while we were tracting. I feel like it kind of explains the area pretty well lol
