This week, I will share my testimony of Repentance.
In 'The Berry' (New Iberia) There are some amzing people in our branch who are making great strides in repentance. and I am so happy for them.
The Story of the Prodigal son has always been one of my favorite examples of repentance from Sin. In Luke 15. I love
20 And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.
21 And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.
22 But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:
23 And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry:
24 For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.
I love the mercy that Is illustrated here. because while he was YET A GREAT WAY OFF the Lord came out to meet him. And restored everything to him BEFORE he even made it back to his house. This is the Mercy of God.
May we remember this phrase though with which the parable begins that:
A certain man had two sons:
The second son gives us an example of how to repent when we already reside with God. and when we already live in his house. Although many of us may be free from crushing sins. We must also repent daily to be changed. Repentance takes from being evil to Good. It is true. But importantly, it also takes us from being Good to Best.
May we dilligently repent every day. It is really a great Joy to do so.
